SUMMARY
This position supports supplier sourcing, product standardization, and order management activities for our Manufacturing and Packaging facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain effective business relationships with key Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) suppliers.
- Implement standardized MRO parts through CMMS software.
- Develop and leverage systems to improve procurement processes.
- Serve as a resource for manufacturing, packaging, maintenance, and EHS operations.
- Maintain inventory control for manufacturing, packaging, and maintenance operations.
- Prepare detailed spend and price analyses for upper management review using BI reports.
- Organize and implement standardized sourcing programs as directed by upper management.
- Analyze purchasing systems and suppliers to identify, quantify, prioritize, and implement cost improvement opportunities.
- Develop the supply base within assigned commodities and manage related expenditures.
- Work across sites to identify and implement purchasing best practices.
- Implement new purchasing programs, including consignment purchase orders, credit-card-to-purchase-order processes, and other process improvements.
- Monitor supplier performance and capabilities to ensure the supply base supports long-range strategies for capacity, quality, and delivery.
- Partner with Purchasing, Operations, and Maintenance to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.
- Maintain a working knowledge of manufacturing practices and shipping opportunities.
- Coordinate with Inventory Control, Production Supervisors, and Process Engineering to identify alternate uses for obsolete and excess materials across sites.
- Research new materials, processes, and suppliers to maximize efficiency and effectiveness within MRO, packaging, and manufacturing activities.
- Maintain cleaning and sanitizing chemical inventories in partnership with suppliers and the Sanitation Supervisor.
- Support the Engineering team with capital purchase requisitions.
- Support the Finance team with payment approvals for purchase requisitions.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree preferred and a minimum of Two (2) years related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
OTHER SKILLS
- Previous experience purchasing MRO items for a manufacturing and packaging operations.
- Previous experience with maintenance CMMS software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, and teamwork skills are required.
- Strong Microsoft Office user.
- Database experience and user knowledge of the analytical tools within Excel, is a plus.
- Self-starter – ability to work independently and relentlessly pursue improvements.
- Ability to multi-task and complete assignments on time.
- Previous SAP experience is a plus.
- Previous experience in MRO purchasing a plus.
