Supplier Performance & Development Manager
The Supplier Performance & Development Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing the Supplier Performance Program within the framework of Supply Chain and Risk Management initiatives. This program encompasses supplier due diligence, risk assessments across diverse commodities and contract manufacturing, vendor performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires effective interaction with various levels of leadership and engagement with a wide range of internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure program success and alignment with organizational goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Developing and supporting the Supplier Performance Management program, policies, and procedures while leveraging best practices through Supplier Scorecard.
- Utilize data analytics to identify trends in supplier performance and recommend actionable insights to enhance overall supply chain efficiency.
- Support rapid innovation initiatives aimed at driving revenue growth by assisting the Director of Supplier Performance and Development in qualifying and onboarding new suppliers, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market demands.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the SaaS Supplier Sustainability application, gathering and interpreting data to drive improvements and identify corrective actions, ensuring our sourcing practices align with consumer expectations for sustainability and responsible material sourcing.
- Oversee and monitor Supplier Risk Mitigation programs, ensuring action plans are executed effectively and concluded once results are achieved and sustainable. Recommend strategic action plans and provide support in leading and implementing these recommendations.
- Provide actionable recommendations to manage vendor risk and oversee performance improvement plans for underperforming suppliers, setting clear expectations and timelines. Measure the efficiency of monitoring processes, validate corrective action requests, and ensure insights lead to continuous improvement in risk management strategies.
- Drive continuous performance improvement initiatives by implementing best practices and benchmarking supplier performance across our supply base in conjunction with projects developed by the Director of Supplier Performance & Development and Continuous Improvement.
- Ensure coherence among various improvements initiated by the Quality and Purchasing functions, while identifying gaps and areas for enhancement. Provide actionable recommendations to drive continuous improvement.
- Create and maintain reporting tools and dashboards to communicate supplier performance to stakeholders and senior management.
- Establish and implement supplier tiering strategy including but not limited to ABC analysis, segmentation, categorization and risk-based analysis.
- Review available software solutions for supplier management, including applications for conducting supplier sustainability assessments. Provide recommendations and a comprehensive business case to leadership. Facilitate the onboarding process and define clear procedures to ensure a smooth handoff to the relevant team for ongoing management.
- Perform other duties as requested to support the organization’s objectives.
This role has no direct reports. Must be able to effectively work with multi-functional teams in the organization who participate in project work by indirect reporting relationships. Responsibilities may include training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising project team performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- 5+ years of supply chain/project management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, but not required.
- Must be highly organized and able to function well with multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to problem solve are necessary.
- Ability to make sound decisions with limited oversight a must.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Word, and Excel.
- Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical skills
- Ability to travel, as needed, to ensure critical aspects of a project are met.
